I can't believe it - we celebrated 5 months of Bailey's life this past Wednesday. It's amazing how fast time flies. So much has happened in this past month.
Here's a look at the fifth month of Bailey's life:
*rolls from her back to her tummy *uses both hands to pick up objects *anything and everything goes into her mouth
*scoots on her tummy - can do a complete 360 *started solid foods.....mmmmmm, we love rice cereal *tested positive for RSV
*had her 1st X-ray *had her first ear infection
*first pink eye*LOVES jumping in her Jumparoo
*tries to pet Torre when he comes near*rolls onto her left side to sleep
*started to say "B's"
*found her feet
*sits in the tri-pod position*recognizes her bottle and knows it's time to eat 
I'm amazed everyday at how quickly she learns and changes. She is so observant. She watches everything: Torre run back and forth, mommy and daddy eating or drinking, the fire in the fireplace, etc. Bailey is also able to entertain herself. She could sit in her Jumparoo for hours, is totally amuzed by her "friends" on her play mat and loves her fishbowl. I can't imagine how much more she is going to change in the next few months. We're still waiting for her first tooth to pop. With the amount of drooling she's been doing lately, I would think that would be coming soon. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Last Monday Bailey had her 4 month wellness checkup. Things went great. She weighed 15# 11 oz. (90th percentile!), measured at 25 inches (75th percentile) and her head circumference was 16 1/4 cm (50th percentile). Quite a change from her 2 month appointment when her weight had her in the 25th percentile. Ahhh....formula does wonders! Everything else looked great! She got her vacinations, we talked about starting food and then we were out the door.
Two days later, we were back. When I picked Bailey up from day care, Fran (our day care provider) said that she was extremely fussy and didn't really eat well. She was also sounding really congested and had a pretty bad cough. I had noticed that since Monday she seemed to be a little more irritable, but I thought maybe that was just a reaction to her shots. Then I picked her up to get ready to leave as she started coughing so hard, it lead her to vomit. That kind of freaked me out (I know...first time mother syndrome) but Fran agreed that I should probably call my doctor. We were able to get Bailey in that evening. I had Andy meet me there, just so the doctor could get his input on things too. Bailey had her first chest x-ray (which was quite the expereince) and was tested for RSV (a respiratory virus). The RSV test came back positive. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do for RSV except wait it out.
I took Thursday and Friday off so I could stay home with Bailey and just love and cuddle with her (doctor's orders - seriously, it was!). I continued to observe her appetite decrease and her fussiness increase. Friday afternoon, Andy and I decided that it would be a good idea to see if we could get her back into the doctor. What do you know - she now had an ear infection! Thankfully we could get her started on Amoxicillin right away. That has definitely made a big difference.
Today she is finally acting her self again : super smiley, very talkative, playing a lot and has her appetite back (we wouldn't want her to get out of the 90th percentile for weight now would we?!?). I'll be going back to work tomorrow which means Bailey will be heading back to day care. We think she'll be just fine and are hoping that she doesn't catch any other bugs soon. She still has a pretty nasty cough, but hopefully the RSV will clear up soon.
Bailey is already four months old! How quickly time flies! I can't even begin to describe how much joy this little girl brings into my life. Ask anyone and they will tell you what a happy baby she is. My dad always called me his "Happy girl" so I guess Bailey gets it from me! Here are some highlights of Bailey's fourth month of life:
*Grasps toys to play with them (or "chew" them)
*Upgraded from a Soothie to a Nuk!
*Met Santa and was in awe of him*Had her first cold (gooey eyes, nasal congestion, cough) that lasted about 3 weeks!*Can roll from her back to her side (she is soooo close to rolling over but she's being stubborn) *Celebrated her first Christmas - 4 times!
*Drools A LOT!
*Started playing in her Exer Saucer*Slaps her left leg with her left arm using a full arm swinging motion
*Sleeps without being swaddled
*Notices her bottle and gets excited when she sees it being made*Watches anyone eat food like a hawk
*Giggles when you tickle her tummy or give her a zerbert!
Bailey is such a miracle and we thank God every day for blessing us with such a wonderful baby!
Bailey's newest discovery is her feet. I'm waiting for them to get in her mouth, but I'm thinking maybe her little belly is too chubby and won't allow her to chew on them! Here are a few pics of her on her changing table. It's already starting to get hard to change her diaper - she wiggles and squirms all over. Call me biased, but I think she's the cutest baby ever!
Here's a picture of her in her Bumbo seat after her "after school snack" of 
delicious rice cereal. I had to stop and take a picture of her. She kept turning around to try and see me as I was picking up some things and it was like she was doing a back bend in her seat!
Bailey had her first trip to a water park last weekend. Her friend Ella turned 2 and she had a water park birthday party. Needless to say, Bailey wasn't too fond of the water. I think it was much cooler than her bath water, so she wasn't really into the fun, but she sure looked adorable in her swimsuit (thanks Jess!).
