36 Week Appointment

Yesterday I went in to see my doc for my 36 week appointment. Stepped on the scale to see that I had gained yet another 3 pounds. Honestly, I thought at this point it was only a pound or so! Maybe it's my obsession with sweets?? I've taken a private vow to do whatever it takes to lay off of sweets/sugar until the baby comes in hopes that a.) I don't go in every week gaining more than a pound b.) this baby doesn't weigh more than I can handle.

Now that we're on the home stretch and going in to see the doctor every week, appointments are now a little more interesting. I had to have the Group B strep screening and then my first cervical exam. I was told my cervix was still high and tight, so needless to say, unless a miracle occurs, no baby coming any time soon. Then my doc showed me a diagram of a pelvis and explained that my pelvis sits much lower and is more narrow. So labor and delivery wise, it means that the baby could have a hard time getting through my pelvis without getting stuck. So my doctor gave me a little reading material on pain medication and c-sections. So not to say that I won't be able to deliver our baby vaginally, but I obviously need to keep an open mind.

I will try and get a picture taken this week of my growing belly and get it posted for all of you who want to see how big I have gotten. She's definitely running out of room in there! I can't believe we are less than 30 days away from meeting our little girl!

Amazing Shower Weekend

This past weekend I had two fabulous showers. Andy, baby, and I definitely got spoiled. It felt wonderful to be surrounded by such amazing friends who care and love for us so much!

Saturday, my sister Julie and friend Abby threw my "friends" shower. It was a gorgeous day out so we sat poolside at the Harlan house. My friends Trisha and Kim drove all the way up from Iowa (they get the prize for most miles driven). Jessica, Heather, Vanessa, Heidi, and Taya all drove over an hour with some extra time stuck in construction. The rest of my friends were local, but I was so thankful that they were willing to give up part of this beautiful summer day to help me celebrate our upcoming arrival.

On Sunday, my mom's friend Cindy put together a shower for my mom's work friends. We had a wonderful brunch and I received some great "words of wisdom/advice" from all who were there. It's great to know that even my mom's friends care so much for me and are excited for the baby to arrive.

Sunday night I finally unpacked and layed out all the things we received so that Andy could take a peek. Our living room floor was covered! Andy jumped right in to put together a few things. I was exhausted. What a fabulous weekend!!!

WOW!

So my mom and I were shopping about 2 weeks ago and while I was trying some clothes on, she told me, "Kate, I think you are bigger than you think you are!" I was a little shocked at that comment.....until today. I had multiple requests to get an updated baby belly picture on our blog so I had Andy take one of me when we got back from church this morning. After taking a few, he looked at the camera and said, "Wow!" Once again, feeling a little shocked, I went to go look at the pictures. I'm not sure what my exact words were, but now I understand my mom and Andy's comment. This belly is defintely getting BIG! I will be 33 weeks tomorrow....honestly, how much bigger can my belly get???
