Nursery: Phase 1

We have finally gotten a start on the nursery. Last Thursday my parents came up to help paint her room. I was so excited to finally have paint on the walls! We also just got our dresser and a glider/ottoman. We are still waiting for our crib to come in, which shouldn't take more than 3 weeks. Once that gets in we'll be able to get our bedding on, hang things on the wall, etc. The cradle will go in our bedroom for the baby to sleep in for the first few weeks. My dad built this cradle for my sister and I when we were babies. I was excited that we would be able to use it. It's fun to see it all come together...and very surreal. My due date is 9 weeks from tomorrow!!!

A Week in Chicago

I was lucky enough to make one last trip to see my sister in Chicago before the baby arrives. We had a great week. Unfortunately, it was rainy and cold almost every day I was there, but that gave us the opportunity to check out some new fun things. One day we took Jake (my nephew) to Pump It Up. He absolutely loved it! We were only there for an hour and a half, but after about 45 minutes you could tell he was exhausted. But he kept on going. His favorite thing was to go in the big jumper and shoot hoops. Unfortunately the hoops were too high for him so he would jump, throw the ball, land on his bottom, and the ball would bounce off his head. He didn't seem to mind though.

Another day we went to the Shedd Aquarium. Julie has a membership so they go often. Jake knows that place like the back of his hand. He wanted to check out the dolphins and penguins about 5 times and he knew where to go to find them.

Our parents came on Thursday. They were in town for the Twins/Cubbies series. Jake adores Grandpa .....Grandma's not to bad either. It was fun to play with the family. The only one missing was my wonderful husband, Andy!

The week definitely went by quickly. It was fun to do some baby shopping and just hang out with Julie. We will only see each other one more time before we have our babies. It's crazy to think about!

28 Week Bump

Yesterday marked the beginning of my 28th week. It's hard to believe I only have 12 weeks left (hopefully!). Although today, a mother of one of my students asked me how things were doing and when I told her I still had 12 weeks left, she looked at my belly and said, "Oh you poor thing." That really made me wonder if people are looking at me and thinking, "She must be due any day!" Goodness I hope not because I've come to realize that by the time my due date gets here....I'M GOING TO BE HUGE!!!!

These aren't great pictures (I used the self timer) but they'll have to work for now. I had to show off my cute new dress that I bought this past weekend!
