Firefly

After taking a year off from my family's annual trip to Firefly lake last year (I was 38 weeks pregnant) we were excited to get back up to the beautiful north woods of Wisconsin. The most exciting thing was that my entire family (extended family included) was going to be together for at least 36 hours. That hasn't happened in a few years, so it was definitely a highlight of our trip.

We spent a lot of time biking, swimming in the lake, taking long walks, and sitting around the campfire. Bailey spent most of her time playing with her cousins Jake & Abby, as well as my cousin's kids, Luke & Eva. She spent a lot of time in the dirt. I really had to try and relax knowing that Bailey was going to be dirty, her bottles would never be 100% clean, and her schedule was going to be really off.

Andy had to head back home to work on the fourth day,
but Bailey and I were planning on staying another week and coming back with my parents. Unfortunately, on day 7 of our trip, Bailey started to get extremely irritable & seemed to be running a fever (no thermometer, but her body was just radiating heat). The morning of day 8 came and I noticed red spots all over her lips. My mom thought they were fever blisters, but we decided to take her into urgent care. A few hours later, Bailey was diagnosed with Hand, Foot & Mouth virus. Poor thing :( Luckily, grandpa made the decision that we would be packing up earlier than planned and we would leave the next day.

Overall, Bailey did a great job for her first camping trip, we just stayed too long. As soon as we got home, she was just about back to herself - walking all over the place, playing with her toys, climbing the stairs, etc. Thankfully, the time we got to spend with our family definitely outweighed the horrendous mosquitoes, scent of the pit toilets, humidity, no A/C, and the feeling of never being clean.

Looking forward to next year!
